We are based in the Henry Wellcome Building for Molecular Physiology. This is on the University of Oxford Old Road Campus which is off Roosevelt Drive, next to the Churchill hospital site. It is at the centre of the map above and is between Old Road to the north and Roosevelt Drive to the south. Most online maps incorrectly label the Old Road Campus as the Warneford Hospital.
The entrance to the building is here.
From the centre of Oxford
From the centre of Oxford, cross over Madgalen bridge, then along St Clements and up Morrell Avenue. At the top of Morrell Avenue, go straight ahead at the island. Turn right at the next set of lights into Roosevelt Drive. Go straight across the first island.
If you are on foot or bicycle, shortly afterwards you will see a path going off to the left just before a big white building (the Richard Doll Building). If you go up this path you will get to the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. You can go to security in the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics and ask for the laboratory.
Alternatively, just walk around to the left of the Wellcome Trust building keeping the trees on your left. After you pass the Wellcome Trust building you will see another building beyond the metal fence which is the Henry Wellcome Building of Molecular Physiology. In the lobby there is an intercom that you can speak through.
If you are in a car, ignore the path on the left and carry on past the white building. The main road into the campus is on your left, but there is a pay and display car park on the right. Park in this car park and walk across into the campus, walk alongside the green building and turn left past it and follow the path left and then right to the front door of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics and ask for our laboratory.
If you are travelling by bus, you can catch the number 15 bus from High Street (Bus stop K3). You should get off the bus at the Valentia Road stop on Old Road. Then walk uphill slightly, cross Old Road and enter the campus through the path that is signposted. To travel back to Oxford, take the number 15 bus from the Valentia Road stop on Old Road.
From the John Radcliffe site
If walking or cycling, leave the John Radcliffe hospital site along Sandfield road. Cross the London Road, turn left towards Headington then first right into Latimer road. At the end of Latimer Road, turn left at the end and then first right into Stapleton road. Then turn right at the end and just opposite enter the campus by a tarmac path on the left which is signposted. When you get to the road at the end of the path, turn right and follow it to a gravel car park. We are the far building on the left nearest the trees. Just go around the side of the building near the trees and there is an entrance, with an intercom in the lobby. There is a shuttle bus which can be booked online.
